Tips to Improve Your Skin through Proper Nutrition

If you want to improve your skin, proper nutrition is one of the best ways to do this instead of spending lots of money on products that may not work. To improve your skin, you can include the following:

Red Wine
Red wine has collagen that help prevent wrinkles from forming on your skin. It also relaxes the skin and promotes blood flow which is essential to get a healthy glow. Take about one glass while you have dinner but remember to practice moderation because the more red wine you take does not necessarily mean you will have better results.

Green tea
Green tea has the same effect as red wine on the skin’s collagen. It strengthens the skin collagen to prevent wrinkles and it is advisable to take about 2 or 4 cups to enjoy the benefits of green tea on your skin.

Omega 3 fatty acids
These fatty acids will keep the cell membranes in your skin healthy and also give you protection from any damage from UV rays from the sun. The best sources that you can get them from include trout, salmon and sardines. If you do not like fish you can get the omega 3 fatty acids from flax seeds, walnuts or eggs that have been fortified with omega 3.

Vitamin E
Vitamin E will also protect the skin’s cell membrane and guard you from the damaging UV rays just like the omega 3 fatty acids. Guacamole and avocados are a great source of vitamin E. Other sources that will give you the vitamin E to improve your skin include nuts, seeds, wheat germ and fortified cereals.

Vitamin A
This vitamin will repair and help your skin grow while also protecting it from sun damage. Foods that contain this vitamin include sweet potatoes, mangoes, carrots, apricots and pumpkins.

Vitamin C
This nutrient helps to produce collagen in the skin to make your skin firmer. Some of the sources include oranges, strawberries, broccoli, lemons and sweet peppers.
Whole grains
Eating whole grains will help to prevent wrinkles by reducing any elevation of blood sugar which leads to the growth of wrinkles.

Selenium
Selenium delays the skin aging process and also gives protection from the damaging effects of the sun. This nutrient also improves the elasticity and quality of your skin. To get selenium you can eat tuna, wheat germ, crab or Brazil nuts.

It is also advisable to drink more than eight glasses of water each day to help remove toxins from your body. The toxins often make your skin look dull and unhealthy.

When cooking, use cold pressed oils to get the maximum benefit for your skin. Sugar, fast foods and snacks that have no nutritional value should be avoided if you want to improve your skin. If you have any reaction on your skin because of a certain food, you should eliminate it to improve your skin. Garlic, asparagus and onions contain sulfur that is helpful to the skin and should be included in meals.
